Composition of Portland Cement

Portland cement is the most used in Brazil and its material is the powder that presents in fine powder state. In its composition are the silicates and aluminates of calcium and practically does not present free lime.

CP I - Common Portland cement

This type of cement is considered the purest, since it does not have any addition except in the case of gypsum that is used as retarder of the handle. It is a simpler type of cement and that is why it is generally more used in construction when there is no special requirement for cement.

Works that do not suffer frequent exposure to water, sewers or sewers and that are not in environments with the presence of soil or groundwater sulphates are the most suitable to use this type of cement. Its resistance is 25 MPa.

CP I-S - Common Portland cement with addition

The CP I-S contains the same composition as the most common cement. The difference is that in the CPI-S in its mass is added a maximum of 5% of pozzolanic material, while the common portland has nothing. However, this is what guarantees cement less permeability. The resistance class is the same as the CP I of 25 MPa.

CP II-E - Portland cement composed of blast-furnace granulated slag

The CP II-E has more additives than other types of cement that have only gypsum. It is a mixture between the portland common and portland with addition. However, this type of cement must be applied when the structures release the moderately slow release of heat or that can be attacked by sulfates. Therefore, it is most commonly used in materials that do not release heat. Its resistance class is 25, 32 and 40 MPa.

CP II-Z - Portland cement composed of pozzolan

For those who need to use cements in marine, industrial and underground works, it should use CP II-Z cement because it contains addition of pozzolanic material. This type of material provides greater impermeability, allowing the concrete to last longer. Its resistance class is 25, 32 and 40 MPa.

CP II-F - Portland Cement compound with filer

This type of cement can be used in various applications, but is not indicated in more aggressive works. However, it can be applied in works that require great resistance of the material as in works in reinforced concrete.

Its composition is from 6% to 10% of carbonate material or filer, in addition to clinker. Other preparations can also use this type of cement such as mortars, coating mortar, thin concrete, concrete floors, among others. The resistance class is 25, 32 and 40 MPa.

CP III - Blast furnace Portland cement

The CP III has a slag content of up to 70% in its composition. The slag helps the material gain greater impermeability, helping it to last longer. In addition, the cement gains more resistance to sulfates and low heat of hydration.

This type of cement must be used more in the execution of large works, especially in the case of dams and sewers. But it can also be applied to paving roads, airport runways, industrial tributaries, among others. Its resistance class is 25, 32 and 40 MPa.

CP IV - Pozolanic Portland cement

The pozzolanic portland cement has about 15-50% pozzolanic material in its blend. Therefore, the material receives greater impermeability, allowing a certain work to have more durability stability.

Its use is more indicated in cases of works that suffer great variations of temperature. In addition, it can also be used in those works that are exposed to the action of running water and in aggressive environments because the material has low porosity. Its resistance class is 25 and 32 MPa.

CP V-Ari - Initial high strength Portland cement

This is a very basic type of cement because it contains no additions in its composition. The dosing and clinker production process is what makes CP V - Ari different from CP I.

It is a type of material that reaches resistance of 26 MPa, initially, because it undergoes several changes in limestone, clay and clinker production. On the first day you apply the concrete, it will already be quite sturdy, but you need to be careful that it deforms quickly.

Its use can be done both in small works and in large works. However, it should not be used in works that are exposed to seawater or those involving sanitary sewage because cement does not withstand aggressive agents.

CP-RS - Sulphate resistant Portland cement

The CP-RS has 25, 32 and 40 MPa as resistance class. It is a type of cement resistant to sulphates, since its composition is formed by C3A and / or carbonaceous additions. Therefore, it is most indicated in works rich in this compound.

The works that most use this material are sanitary sewage networks, industrial environments, maritime and coastal regions for their resistance to material and other types of soil.
However, this does not prevent cement from being used in structural recovery works, concrete design, precast concrete elements, pavements, reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, among others.

CP-BC - Portland Low Cement Moisture Cement

The portland cement of low heat of hydration and its purpose is to slow the loss of heat, especially in the cases of large mass concrete pieces. Thus, during the hydration phase of the cement, the developed heat avoids the appearance of fissures of thermal origin. In addition, the material also increases the durability of the structure.

Low heat portland cements of hydration generate up to 260 J / g and up to 300 J / gaos for 3 days and 7 days of hydration, respectively. So when you buy, make sure the cement is correct.

CP-B - White Portland cement

White Portland cement can be divided as structural and non-structural. In the case of structural, it should be applied in works with architectural purposes and that have the same characteristics of other types of cement, but with that white pigmentation that we already know.

In the case of non-structural, it is more suitable for ceramic grouting. To reach its white color are used raw materials with low manganese and iron content and the use of kaolin in place of clay. The resistance class is 25, 32 and 40 MPa.
