| INTERNATIONAL CONGREGATIONAL FELLOWSHIP, THEOLOGICAL COMMISSION INTERNATIONAL CONGREGATIONAL FELLOWSHIP 1. BACKGROUND The Theological Commission (ICFTC) was set up by the International Congregational Fellowship (ICF) at its Executive meeting in Korea in 1999. Its purpose is stated in all correspondence as follows: The purpose and mission of the Theological Commission of the International Congregational Fellowship is 2. TRAINING LINKS The ICFTC seeks to create links with congregational bodies in different parts of the world. At present we are establishing links between Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and the United Kingdom and United States of America. We hope to share training material and expertise. We are also trying to build up partnerships with training colleges in Myanmar. 3. SEMINARS The most recent series was held in Brazil and Argentina. The title and lecture topics were devised in consultation with the Regional Secretary for South America, Pastor Teodoro Stricker and his son, Rev Dr Harding Stricker. They also advised on accessibility, by pitching the series at the appropriate level, and using the appropriate style. The series was held twice, with some differences. All four lectures were given in Brazil, to an audience consisting of ICF members and a reasonable gathering of leaders of local churches. Each lecture was followed by questions and answers. The setting was the magnificent auditorium at the three borders, where great rivers divide Brazil from Argentina and Paraguay. In Argentina we met in the 1st Congregational Church, Jardin America, whose golden anniversary we were helping to celebrate. The seminars were attended by a large number of church members. The program concluded with a lively and open discussion. |
